The Ameris Bank Amphitheatre opened on May 10, 2008 as the Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre. It opened with a concert by the Grammy Award-winning Atlanta Symphony Orchestra. The Atlanta Symphony Orchestra regularly hold themed performances at the venue. The venue is owned by Woodruff Arts Center. This is one of the largest arts centers in the world, and it is also the largest arts educator in Georgia.
The Ameris Bank Amphitheatre is distinguished by its unusual fan-shaped roof. This roof consists of a translucent cloth-like material that is draped over a steel-framed structural system. The amphitheatre is ideal for feeling close to nature, while still being protected from the elements, while rocking out to your favorite band! The grounds boast large plants, heritage trees, and flowers that are native to the area. This creates a breathtaking environment for concerts.

The amphitheatre provides abundant parking for guests, both on-site and off-site, which makes travelling to the venue convenient and easy. It is advised that guests arrive at least one hour before the show to avoid delays and/or congestion. Buses, RVs, trailers and other over-sized vehicles may be prohibited from parking in the on-site lots. This depends on space availability. Tailgating is not allowed in Lot N or Lot B. Shuttle service for the off-site parking does operate continuously during concerts. Handicapped parking is available in the Delta Lot as well as Lots A, C and P for guests with disabilities or mobility issues.
