Tree evaluation is a technique used in detecting the changes in the health of a tree in order to prevent or combat critical issues that may arise before they become serious. Risk assessment is the practice of assessing the risk factors presented by a tree due to its health conditions. Risk assessment helps to take immediate action before the tree pollutes the environment, affects other trees, and poses hazardous threats to the people surrounded by it. You can visually assess your tree to know the severity of its health and status. How do you know a tree is ill? There are five steps to implement. Step 1 is the observation of the tree’s base or root, checking for spots or decay. Step 2 involves checking the tree’s collar for signs of decay (the intersection of the root and trunk at the surface of the soil). The common signs of decay are missing, falling or breaking of tree barks. Step 3 is examining the trunk for deep and extensive cracks, swelling or uneven development. Step 4 requires checking the top of the tree for droopy branches with no leaf growth. Preventative Care
